Why did you choose to work mostly with Teak?
Because only the finest teak truly deserves the legendary reputation it has earned.
When you wrok with Teak, what are you looking for?
For us, quality begins with the age of the wood, the precision of the cut, the absence of knots and, just as importantly, a proper seasoning process.
What distinguishes something that is merely beautiful from something crafted to the highest standards?
Appearances can be misleading, even in the world of high-end products. True craftsmanship begins with the ability to select and source the perfect timber.Particularly in outdoor furniture, the joinery techniques employed are essential. The final character of the wood surface is shaped by the expert hands of our artisans, making each piece unique — as distinctive as every creation we make.
What aspects do you personally oversee in every project?
The excellence of our work is rooted in a precise and carefully controlled production process. This is complemented by a series of thorough internal inspections. Before packaging and delivery, every piece undergoes strict quality controls to ensure it meets our highest standards.
Are there any specific details or stages of production on which you are particularly uncompromising?
Every detail matters. From the very beginning to the final delivery, our process is guided by uncompromising attention: selecting the finest raw materials in Indonesia, using only the most noble and valuable parts of the timber, overseeing each stage of craftsmanship and quality control, and completing every piece with carefully designed packaging, entirely free from metal components.
Do you prefer to take on fewer projects and oversee them personally?
For over 35 years, we have been specializing in quality. At Arco Outdoor, our guiding principle has always been to value quality over quantity.Achieving this level of quality requires specialised expertise and highly skilled craftsmanship. For this reason, we choose to work with a select number of people — few, but deeply experienced, precise and attentive to every detail our work demands.
What concerns you most about the way many products are made today?
In today’s production landscape, both people and products can too easily become numbers, losing the value that only expertise, experience and care are able to create. At Arco Outdoor, we believe that the quality of a piece is inseparable from the people who make it: our furniture is precious because so are the skilled hands behind it.
What kind of relationship do you build with each client?
We like to work with clients who recognise and value quality. It is a choice that pays off over time: our products are made to last and to keep giving satisfaction year after year, confirming the value of the investment from the very beginning.
If there were one thing people should remember about Arco, what would you want that to be?
True craftsmanship.
Who we are
Arco Outdoor was born over thirty-five years ago from a simple conviction shared by Michael Düring: “quality is not something added at the end; it is something built from the very beginning.”
His ambition has always been to create furniture made to last, with an uncompromising focus on materials, craftsmanship and design.
This brought him into contact with Teak. Teak is not simply a fine wood. It is a material that demands knowledge, experience and respect.
“Teak leaves no room for approximation.”
This is why Michael has spent much of his life searching for the finest teak, travelling to understand first-hand the places where it grows and learning to recognise its quality, grain, stability and subtle characteristics that often escape an untrained eye. He then personally selected his suppliers, gradually building a supply chain controlled at every stage.
At Arco Outdoor, this philosophy comes to life.
We value quality over quantity. Each project is personally followed at every stage: from material selection to production, through to the direct relationship we build with the client.

Where Timeless Design Meets Modern Living
Our outdoor products are designed by Danish architect Povl B. Eskildsen, with a clear purpose: to create essential, enduring pieces capable of standing the test of time while preserving their value.
“Quality is seen after ten years. Not on the day of delivery.”
For Michael, true craftsmanship means creating pieces that are solid, balanced and coherent in every detail.
“Everyone notices the workmanship. Almost everyone overlooks the details. I don’t.”
In a market shaped by speed and consumption, Arco Outdoor follows a different philosophy: producing less, controlling every detail more closely, and creating pieces designed to stand the test of time.
“Design should not chase time. It should stand the test of it.”
